Dungeons & Dragons is a 2000 live-action movie based on the role-playing game (RPG) Dungeons & Dragons (D&D).

Plot
A story concerns a evil wizard Profion (played by noted character actor Jeremy Irons) who tries to control red dragons with the right artifact. When heroes destined to prevent this cataclysmal event come Ridley & Snails (Justin Whalin and Marlon Wayans), two stealer world health organization quite just happen to exist as at a wrongly place at a incorrectly period. More characters (a sottish dwarf & an elven ranger) tag along the "heroes" in their "quest". A story requires place in the fabricated kingdom of Izmer.

Reactions
the picture show is usually considered a super unfortunate function by fans of fantasy picture. Reasons for this include a typically-amateurish writing, counsel & camerawork of its producer/director, Courtney Solomon. a rumour circulated among fans claims that the film's cast members swore the reciprocal oath that it would nevermore function for the director.

A motion picture was likewise non embraced by fans of the original role-swimming game. Like than setting a story around one of many fantasy surroundings utilized inside the game, it was placed in a wholly freshly setting & did non utilise any of the familiar equity characters, conflicts, or even venue mentioned throughout the original source poop. Because of this omission, there was nothing to distinguish it from either any more "Swords and Sorcery" fantasy story.

Though 500&D the game rose to popularity in the mid-1980s, the movie opened in theaters just as a revised version of the game was released to stores by Wizards of the Coast, starting a brief renaissance in role-playing games. A film suffers an abysmal 10% in Rottentomatoes.com & is brutalized on the Internet Movie Database.

Trivia
the pic featured a cameo appearance of British actor Richard O'Brien in a parody of his game show The Crystal Maze.

Despite the alms box-professional showing of the number 1 film, a straight-to-TV sequel, Dungeons & Dragons 2: Wrath of the Dragon God* was released in 2005. It did non directly prove my point on a plot line of the former film, although the character of Damodar (Profion's collaborator) makes the go to.
